Abstract

The study examined the issue of culture library/preservation, as it relates to the identity and traditions of the Tangle (Tangale) people located in Southern Gombe State, Nigeria. The Tangle People form part of the 400 ethno-linguistic groups in the country with a very rich and enduring culture. The study showed that the Tangles are endowed with many attractive tangible and intangible cultural heritages which were passed down through generations. However, these cultural heritage needs to be safe-guarded by ensuring that more documentations are done for future generations which will in turn be a catalyst for sustainable development. The objective(s) of the study among others was to stimulate a robust and scholarly documentation of the Tangle culture, that will project the rich Tangle culture, it sights and prospect. The research was hinged on the UNESCO Conservation of Cultural Heritage Theory which subscribes for ensuring proper cultural transfer to the next generation.
