Abstract

In this twenty-first century, the English language teacher is the only person who can make a classroom vibrant by teaching energetically. It is the only job of an English language teacher to deliver instruction to their students and make the teaching-learning process of the English language effective. The ability to communicate effectively in English is a critical skill for students in today's globalized world. However, many secondary-level students in Maiduguri struggle with speaking skills due to a lack of exposure to authentic English environments and limited opportunities to practice speaking in the classroom. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of various techniques of teaching speaking skills at the secondary level to examine the teaching techniques used in improving English speaking skills among senior secondary school students in Maiduguri metropolis Borno State, Nigeria. If the presentation of the lesson is effective, the students can accomplish the goals of life via the acquisition of knowledge in the genuine meaning. With the help of this research, the readers will be able to understand the different maxims, guidelines or techniques to be used by an English language teacher to make teaching effective and more fruitful.
